Driver's licence system

Your organ donation status is no longer recorded on your driver’s licence. The registration process changed from the driver’s licence system to the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR) in 2002. Any Western Australians who registered through their driver’s licence have been transferred onto the AODR. Contact the AODR on 1800 777 203 to confirm your registration status.

Advantages of the AODR

The AODR allows intending donors to choose specific organs and tissues they may wish to donate. Alternatively, a person can also register their wish not to be a donor at all.

The other advantages of the AODR include security of information and the benefit of a national system. Only a few people have access to the information on the AODR. In Western Australia, no hospital personnel have access to your registration status. Only the Donor Coordinators will access registration details after your death.
